As known,flights between this High Arctic community and Ottawa can cost more than $6,000:“phenomenal costs” of transportation and food are an “impediment” for the people of the High Arctic. A completely new plan is now being developed by the Government of Nunavut.

Yesterday, the Russian News Agency, Sputnik News, reported that Japan's special ambassador for Arctic Affairs Kazuko Shiraishi announced that "the three main areas of cooperation between Russia and Japan in the Arctic include research, the Northern Sea Route and the Yamal liquefied natural gas (LNG) project".
