Is the North Magnetic Pole shifting towards Russia?

In a statement by the Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INGG SB RAS), the north magnetic pole of the Earth is shifting towards the Arctic coast of Russia. Year-round observations will soon be conducted at the Samoylov Island Research Station in the delta of the Lena River in Sakha Republic, Russia, on this phenomenon in a specially installed magnetic observatory.

Lack of infrastructure slowing down the development of the Northern Sea Route

The lack of sufficient and qualified infrastructure, including ice-class fleet of carriers and support ice-breakers, is hindering the development of the Northern Sea Route in the Arctic stated the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Alexei Chekunkov, in an interview with RBC Russian media on the eve of this years Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia. He further stated that there are not enough shipyards in the world to build the needed fleet.

An agreement on Icelandic - Canadian Youth mobility signed!

An agreement between Iceland and Canada on youth mobility between the ages of 18 and 30 was signed in Winnipeg on August 3rd. This long-awaited agreement stipulates that young people of that age group can travel and work in Canada and/or Iceland for up to 12 months, with the possibility of extending their stay by 12 months.

Polar bears live in 19 populations across the Arctic in Canada (estimated about 60%), U.S. (Alaska), Russia, Greenland, and Norway (Svalbard) with an estimated total population of 26.000 individuals as of 2021.
