Iceland: Assessment of the status of EU accession negotiations

Having been tasked by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in October last year to produce a report on the assessment of the status of accession negotiations between Iceland and the European Union and developments within the EU, the Institute of Economic Studies at the University of Iceland has now delivered its findings. In the Institute‘s report the main emphasis is on the period since the summer of 2009, when Iceland applied to become a candidate for EU membership, and it focuses on legal, instutitional and economic developments in the European Union.

UArctic member the University of Washington has approved a new minor degree program in Arctic Studies through their Canadian Studies Center, Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Oceanography, and College of the Environment.

Fulbright scholar grant in Arctic Studies

The Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Fulbright Commission have signed an agreement to set up a Fulbright scholar grant in Arctic Studies. Through this agreement the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will fund US scholars to teach and conduct research in Arctic issues at Icelandic universities over the next three years.
