The draft program of the Arctic Circle Japan Forum has now been published. The impressive 3-day program contains over 100 speakers participating in more than 50 sessions. The Forum is organised in partnership with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the Nippon Foundation.

Today, the 6th of February the Sámi peoples in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia celebrate their Sámi National Day. The Sámi National Day has been celebrated for 30 years or since 1993 on this date to commemorate the first Sámi congress held in Trondheim, Norway in 1917.

UArctic and the Arctic Circle are pleased to open the call for nominations for the 2023 Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Award. The Award includes a 100,000 euro grant to promising projects which address climate change through concrete actions and plans. The call is open until April 30, 2023.

The thirteenth of the Yule Lads comes on the night before the 24th of December and departs for home on the last day of Christmas or the 6th of January. He was known for being the one who followed children to steal their candles (which used to be edible, made from fat).
