Volcanos with recent seismic events, land uplift or increased thermal activity in July - August 2023

On the 30th of October, the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland experienced an unusual surge of seismic activity. 1.300 earthquakes were recorded in the area. From midnight to 7 AM over 300 quakes, with the largest registering at a magnitude of 3.0 were recorded. This seismic activity originated approximately three kilometers north of Grindavík, in close proximity to the renowned Blue Lagoon.

Womens on Strike - gathering in Reykjavík

On October 24, 2023, women and transgender individuals all over Iceland participated in a full 24-hour work stoppage, drawing attention to gender pay disparity and combating gender-based violence.

In a monumental gathering at Arnarhóll, the heart of Reykjavík, and across the country, thousands of individuals united to participate in a historic moment for Iceland. In Reykjavík alone, the police estimated around 100 thousand participants. This is an amazing turn-out in a country that only inhabits about 400.000 individuals.
