The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) has announced the selection of The University of Alaska to lead a consortium of U.S. academic institutions and other partners for the new ADAC-ARCTIC Center of Excellence (COE) for Homeland Security in the Arctic. S&T will provide ADAC-ARCTIC with $46 million over a 10-year cooperative agreement period.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an integral agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce, launched the NOAA online Science Seminar Series in 2004. These seminars are held regularly.

A construction worker, working on compacting gravel filling in a fissure in the town of Grindavik is missing after the earth collapsed from under him yesterday morning, Wednesday the 10th. The town was evacuated in November 2023 because of volcanic activity. It has been slowly coming back to life not least due to pressure from both economic and social aspects despite imminent hazards.

More than 20,000 people in Russia lead a nomadic lifestyle today. These are reindeer herders who move behind their herds all seasons of the year, from pasture to pasture, across vast territories of the Arctic and Siberia. Nenets, Dolgans, Evenks, Evens, Chukchi roam with their families and young children. In total, there are 4,676 traditional indigenous families who independently raise 2,203 preschoolers and 4,366 school-age children.

The Results Report of the 2023 Global Youth Forum, themed "Agrifood Systems Transformation Accelerates Climate Action," has been released by the World Food Forum (WFF). The focus of the 2023 forum was on the profound impact of agrifood systems, which span the entire journey of food from farm to table and extend to every facet of our lives, touching every corner of the planet.

The 8th China-Nordic Arctic Cooperation Symposium was held in Guangzhou, China, 3rd-6th December 2023. The theme of the Symposium was "Sustainable Development of the Arctic Oriented: The Role of Sino-Nordic Cooperation" followed by a business roundtable with the theme Green Solutions to Arctic Tourism. The convener of the symposium was the South China Business College, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (SCBC) and the co-conveners were the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC), the secretariat of CNARC, Arctic Portal.org, and the Arctic Yearbook.
