Russian Paratroopers landed on ice floe at 89 North

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has recently released a brief note reporting that 85 Russian paratroopers and15 soldiers from Belarus and Tajikistan, members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), have successfully landed on a drifting ice floe at 89 North.

2008 Chukchi Sea Lease Sale re-affirmed

On Tuesday 31 March 2015, a press release from the US Department of the Interior informed that the 2008 lease sale in the Chuckhi Sea (Alaska) was upheld, a first step for allowing the re-opening of 30 million acres of US continental shelf for oil exploration by Royal Dutch Shell.
