NOAA EarthData webinar will be held on 6 May 2020, 6-7 pm UTC on Accessing and Analyzing Snow Data at the NSIDC DACC (The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center) with Amy Steiker and Walt Meier.

The webinar will introduce several of these snow-focused NASA missions and data products followed by a live demonstration teaching how to discover, access, and couple snow data across these varying geospatial scales. In particular, we will highlight the ability to search and access data by a defined region, and combine and compare snow data across different data formats and scales using a Python-based Jupyter Notebook.

The NASA National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) provides access to hundreds of data products in support of cryospheric research, global change detection, and water resource management. Snow measurements are of particular importance to each of these research disciplines, as their integration with other geophysical measurements at different spatial and temporal scales is critical for understanding the global hydrological cycle.

The NSIDC DAAC’s offerings on snow data continue to grow with NASA’s recent SnowEx campaign, the Airborne Snow Observatory (ASO) mission, and ongoing global snow cover products from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) missions.
