We would like to invite you to submit manuscripts to the thematic issue of the journal Advances in Polar Science (APS) on “AFoPS 2017” (Asian Forum for Polar Sciences 2017). The polar researchers from Asian nations, and the no-Asian polar scientists participating in Arctic or Antarctic cruises organized by Asian nations, or cooperating with the Asian scientists are welcome to contribute to this thematic issue
To strengthen the scientific and logistic collaborations among Asian countries involved in polar research is the main purpose of AFoPS. During the AFoPS-13, it was decided to publish the AFoPS proceedings annually by each member countries in turn to demonstrate progresses in polar science of Asian countries. On the meeting, China was given the great honor to publish the first AFoPS proceedings (AFoPS 2012) as a thematic issue of the Advances in Polar Science (APS), which is a peer-reviewed journal, published in English.
Now we are ready to publish the thematic issue on “AFoPS 2017”. This thematic issue seeks to bring together polar researchers studying different scientific disciplines. Besides, the review papers concerning the national Antarctic and Arctic program objectives and review of AFoPS members and observers will be merged into this special issue. We welcome relevant contributions on this topic.
The deadlines for this special issue is:
- Paper submission deadline: 15 July 2018
- Final acceptance deadline: 15 October 2018
- Publication: December of 2018
Submitted manuscripts, except for review papers, should be complete and adequately supported by original investigation; they should not be versions of communications submitted or published elsewhere. All manuscripts will undergo regular review by members of the Editorial Board and other appropriate experts.
APS is an international, peer-reviewed and open-access journal sponsored by the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC). It is a quarterly journal published in March, June, September and December and circulated internationally (ISSN 1674-9928, CN 31-2050/P). Articles published in APS are free of charge with generous funding from PRIC. In 2017, a new category was introduced into APS, the Opinion Editorial (Op-Ed). This, with a maximum length of 2 pages, provides a forum to comment on the status and/or deficiencies of any aspect of polar science, to reflect on recent innovation or progress, and to promote internationally collaborative polar science projects.
