On 13-14 November 2023, the sixth edition of the Reykjavík Global Forum will be co-hosted with the Government of Iceland and the Parliament of Iceland in partnership with Women Political Leaders (WPL).
Over 500 women leaders are participating in the Forum that will be held in the conference and music hall Harpa. Among the guests are the Icelandic Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir and American actress Ashley Judd.
Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former president of Iceland, is the special patron of the parliament, whose founder and chairman is the former mayor of Reykjavík Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir.
"At this Global Forum, we will take the discussion further and present what we call Reykjavík Action Items, where we encourage international women leaders to focus on four key actions to promote equality in the world: equal pay, a more equal share of the sexes in decision-making, equal parental leave and actions to end gender-based violence," says Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir.
The theme of this year's World Congress is "Power, Together for Leadership", which refers to the importance of leadership and the number of women in leadership roles.
Women leaders from politics, business, the media, science, and international organizations are expected to come to the country, and the purpose is to give the participants the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas on how women leaders can act for a better society, greater equality between the sexes and the empowerment of women in the widest possible context.
