Following the success of the fourth meeting of the International Polar Tourism Research Network (IPTRN) in Christchurch (NZ), the fifth meeting is set to take place in end August 2016 in the northeast of Iceland.
In collaboration with local tourism stakeholders and polar research activities in Iceland the aim is to facilitate the dissemination of ideas and best practices on tourism development in the Arctic.
The meeting is a combination of an academic conference and community workshop. The programme allows the participants to immerse themselves in the region hosting the event and get intimate knowledge of the land and its people, put to use in situ through the workshop.
The meeting's theme is to be announced in autumn 2015, followed by a call for papers.
