The Arctic Yearbook is an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed publication that provides critical analysis of developments in the Arctic region.

First published in 2012, the Yearbook focuses on issues such as Arctic governance, geopolitics, security, regional development, environmental politics, and circumpolar cooperation.
Published annually and freely available online, the Arctic Yearbook serves as a platform for examining the political, economic, and social dynamics shaping the circumpolar North. In 2023, two editions were released: the regular annual volume and a special issue dedicated to the COVID-19 pandemic, examining its impacts on Arctic communities, governance, and regional cooperation.
The publication is produced as part of the Thematic Network on Geopolitics and Security of the University of the Arctic, which also organizes the annual Calotte Academy, a long-standing international forum for dialogue on Arctic politics, security, and governance.
The Arctic Yearbook aims to serve as a leading repository of research and analysis on Arctic affairs. Its mission is to inform a broad audience, including students, researchers, policymakers, planners, business leaders, and other stakeholders, about the evolving political, environmental, and social dynamics of the Arctic.
Each volume combines peer-reviewed scholarly articles submitted through an open call for papers with invited contributions, including briefing notes and commentaries. As an open-access publication, all content is freely available to readers worldwide. Articles may be downloaded, shared, cited, and distributed for non-commercial purposes, provided proper credit is given to the authors and the publication.
