We are very pleased to announce that the new ArcticStat website is now online www.arcticstat.org The new website provides improved navigation to meet the new standards of search experience. It also introduces a new interactive map of the arctic circumpolar regions and a section devoted to personalized notifications (My Page). The new website is accessible on a laptop, smartphone or tablet.
ArcticStat is a public and independent socioeconomic statistical databank dealing with the populations of the Circumpolar Arctic. The data mainly comes from national statistics agencies of the Arctic countries, their regional offices or from government ministries. It contains more than 11 600 statistical tables about population, language, health, education, migration, economy, employment and other social realities.
ArcticStat was created by the Canada Research Chair on Comparative Aboriginal Condition at Université Laval (Canada). It represents a major Canadian contribution to the International Polar Year. ArcticStat has been officially endorsed by the Sustainable Development Working Group (SDWG) of the Arctic Council during the ministerial meeting held in Salekhard, Russian Federation, at the end of October 2006.
