SIOI - United Nations Association for Italy and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Italy, in collaboration with the High North Center for Business and Governance of Nord University (Bodø) and with the Arctic University of Norway, are pleased to present the 4th edition of the International Symposium Arctic Connections: “The new Great Challenge of the Arctic: perspectives and changes for a peaceful cooperation”.

The Symposium will take place on 18 and 19 October 2022, in English and in a hybrid format, and it will provide an opportunity to discuss the most pressing aspects of the following topics: the Arctic dilemma and its regional dynamics of a security in transition; the new emerging leadership in the Arctic; the European energy crisis and the need for peaceful cooperation between Arctic and non-Arctic states for the security of supply.

The aim of the event is to discuss the new challenges of the region related to international security, geopolitics of energy and transport, the energy crisis that affects all European countries and the development of a new leadership capable of leading to closer collaboration between Arctic and non-Arctic States such as Italy.

In this context, the Arctic could play a double role both from the point of view of security of supply and energy transition, in which the European Union could become a new key actor.
