Exploring Parallels Between Alaska and Iceland

Both Alaska and Iceland share unique challenges—remote geography, harsh climates, and resource-driven economies—but Iceland’s innovative approaches to energy, industry, and infrastructure provide a compelling model for Alaska’s future. This virtual event will bring together leading experts from both regions to discuss critical topics, including:

  • Electric utilities and energy use
  • Data centers and infrastructure
  • Innovation economy and industrial growth
  • Strategies for attracting industry

A key highlight of the workshop will be the panel discussion “Iceland’s Secret Sauce Reimagined for Alaska”. Halldór Jóhannsson, Executive Director of Arctic Portal, will participate in this panel alongside other experts. This discussion will explore how Iceland’s strategies in energy and innovation can be adapted to support Alaska’s economic and energy future. Attendees will gain cross-sector insights that can help shape Alaska’s economic and energy landscape in the years to come.
