This international competition highlights innovative Arctic‑related business ideas from young entrepreneurs and start‑ups. It is held by the High North Center at Nord University and Innovation Norway since 2018. The goal is to bring attention to the economic potential and specific needs of the Arctic areas and to encourage young people of the High North to develop their business ideas.
The final event of the contest is a part of the annual High North Dialogue 2026 in Bodø, Norway on April 22-23, 2026, where three chosen finalists will have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to conference participants - Arctic experts and leaders - and win 40 000 NOK (first place), 20 000 NOK (second place) and 10 000 NOK (third place). Companies and individual entrepreneurs from any country and field of expertise are eligible to apply with a business idea related to the circumpolar North.
Participating companies are expected to be no older than three years of the start-up date as the contest focuses on the start-ups and fresh business ideas. Another limitation is the age of the applicant, which is up to 40 years old. For more information, please see criteria.
The competition provides a support platform for young entrepreneurs and companies. Along with monetary prize it offers good publicity for participants, the finalists are promoted during the High North Dialogue conference and disseminate the information throughout the Circumpolar North. Therefore, this can be an exciting opportunity for youth and startups.
