North Star Group (NSG) is pleased to announce that the application period for the 2023 Summer Arctic Internship is now open. This year’s internship opportunity will focus on Arctic youth engagement and pan-Arctic/northern collaboration.

This is a paid internship for senior-level or recent college graduates, ideally suited for international relations and sustainable development majors with strong writing and excellent communication skills and high competency in digital media strategy and applications. A special interest in and knowledge of Arctic and northern issues is required. The internship can be done remotely, has a flexible start and end date, and offers the potential for continuing employment.

The successful candidate will be able to strengthen their networking skills while gaining valuable experience in professional communication and outreach strategies, Arctic-related policy development, current events, and connecting with individuals and entities engaged in Arctic issues. These activities will help bridge gaps across sectors and build sustainable relationships across the Arctic.

This year’s internship is anchored with a central project – the Arctic Resilient Communities Youth Fellowship – a nine-month, three-country youth leadership initiative. Other duties include digital media outreach, meeting and webinar organization, calendar of events curation, list management, and Arctic/northern policy issue research.

The NSG Arctic Internship program started in 2015 to enhance competency in Arctic policy among young professionals. NSG is a community engagement and social performance consulting firm working with pan-Arctic and Indigenous communities in North America. It is based in Alaska with offices in Washington, DC, and associates around the world.
