Call for Best Practices in New European Bauhaus in the Northern Periphery and Arctic Region
The second Call for Best Practices in New European Bauhaus in the Northern Periphery and Arctic Region is now open, until November 30th, 2026.

Bauhaus Goes North (BGN) brings together seven partners from the Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA)* Region to promote a more sustainable, beautiful, and inclusive built environment in remote and sparsely populated communities. Funded through the Interreg NPA Programme and co-funded by the European Union, the project applies the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB), focusing on sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion, with a particular emphasis on circularity and resource efficiency.
BGN aims to identify and share innovative approaches that can support a more circular and resource-efficient built environment across the region. Through tools, co-design activities, and demonstration projects, it seeks to make successful solutions easier to adapt and replicate in different communities.
As part of this work, BGN will put out three Calls for Best Practices in New European Bauhaus to find inspiring projects, activities, and practical tools already being used across the NPA Region. The competition highlights solutions that support circular construction and fit into three categories: Circular Societies, Circular Instruments, and Circular Buildings. By showcasing these examples, the project aims to help communities learn from each other and accelerate the adoption of successful ideas across the region.
The first Call resulted in winning projects such as H59 in Reykjavík, Iceland which combines social inclusion with low-carbon housing; BGF, a collaborative roadmap for sustainable construction also in Iceland; and ‘den talamh’ in Cork, Ireland demonstrating the potential of vernacular, low-carbon materials in adaptable community buildings.
