IASSA has opened the call for abstracts for ICASS XII, taking place in Nuuk, Greenland, from 31 May to 4 June 2027 under the theme “Our Arctic – Our Future: Coming Together.”

The Arctic is undergoing rapid environmental, political and social change, while growing geopolitical interest continues to reshape the region. Against this background, ICASS XII will provide a platform for discussion on the major challenges and transformations affecting the Arctic and its communities.

The International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA) has opened submissions for the 12th International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS XII), which will take place in Nuuk, Greenland, from 31 May to 4 June 2027.

Held under the theme “Our Arctic – Our Future: Coming Together,” the congress will gather researchers, students, policymakers, Indigenous representatives and practitioners from across the Arctic and beyond.

ICASS XII welcomes papers, panels and sessions covering a wide range of topics within the Arctic social sciences. These include geopolitics, economic development, environmental change, Indigenous rights, social issues and cultural transformations, as well as other themes shaping the present and future of the region.

The congress will be hosted at the Katuaq Cultural Centre and Hotel Hans Egede in Nuuk.

• Registration deadline: 30 April 2027

Abstracts for individual presentations should be no longer than 250 words and include the title, author details, affiliations, contact information and two to four keywords.

Session proposals should include a session title, a description of up to 250 words outlining the theme and objectives, details of the proposed presenters and presentations, and the name and affiliation of the session chair.
