The annual Arctic Futures Symposium will take place on Tuesday 17 November and Wednesday 18 November, at the Residence Palace conference centre, located in the European District of Brussels, Belgium.

As an annual conference on Arctic issues held in Brussels for the benefit of the European Institutions as the EU continues to develop its policy on the Arctic, the Arctic Futures Symposium is a forum for a wide variety of Arctic experts and stakeholders to discuss key issues facing a part of the world that is gaining ever more attention internationally.

Contributors will include policymakers from Arctic states and the European Union, representatives from local indigenous Arctic communities, experts and academics, representatives from industries operating in the Arctic, and representatives from civil society. This year's symposium will focus on development in the Circumpolar North on the local, regional, and national level, looking at issues such as blue growth, environmental security, and innovation in both industry and the digital sphere.

The symposium will also feature a special discussion on Arctic Council observer states and organisations led by Dr Kathrin Keil, Project Scientist at IASS Potsdam and Europe Director of the Arctic Institute.
