Paula Kankaanpää, current Director, Professor, Arctic Centre of University of Lapland, Finland

The Board of the University of Lapland decided in its meeting on the 21st of April 2015 to advertise for a new Director of the Arctic Centre in an international search. The search will be opened in May 2015.

The search will be for a research professor in either a fixed-term or permanent employment, whose assignment will include the position of the Director of the Arctic Centre for a five-year term.

In addition the board stated that the management system of the Arctic Centre will be maintained as before, with the exception that the Arctic Centre Board will be supplemented with a student member appointed by the Student Union.

The operational structure and the administration of the Arctic Centre were discussed in the board of the University of Lapland due to the resignation of the current Director of the Arctic Centre Paula Kankaanpää, who will take on the position of the Director of the Marine Research Centre of the Finnish Environmental Institute (SYKE) in the 1st of August 2015.
