Projects

The participation of Iceland in IPY 2007 – 2008 is varied as Icelandic scientist and scholars participate in over 60 projects proposals connecting to almost 230 IPY projects endorsed by the IPY International Committee.

It is unlikely that all IPY projects proposals that Icelanders participate in will be implemented. Some of the projects are well on their way, particularly those that involve researches or activities financed as a part of common research- or monitoring of the relevant institutes. Many of the projects are also supported abroad, as international cooperation is a requirement for the endorsement of IPY projects.
