› ICR Projects
The International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry is currently engaged in several projects.
1: EALAT Information: Reindeer herding, traditional knowledge and adaptation to climate change and loss of grazing land. A Norwegian Arctic Council project organized by Association of World Reindeer Herders (WRH), in close cooperation with International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR), Reindeer Herders’ Union of Russia (RHUR), Saami Council (SC), Sámi University College (SA) and UNEP Grid-Arendal. EALÁT- information project is a part of IPY EALÁT - Reindeer herding and climate change which has received full IPY endorsement (ID: 399).
2: EALÁT project endorsed by the International Polar Year and the Arctic Council is one - ICR handles outreach and information for this major Sámi research project centred at the Sámi University College.
3. Reindeer Blog. ICR intends this blog to be a source of accessible information about the work of ICR and the people involved in the various projects that are undertaken by or supported by ICR. The blog will also track the activities of ICR. RSS is enabled so you can add the blog to your RSS feeds by clicking on the RSS button in your browser. We have also created an RSS reader with news items that are directly or are indirectly of interest to reindeer husbandry.
4. The World Reindeer Husbandry Report in cooperation with CAFF and WRH is another. The long term goal of this project is the creation of a monitoring programme related to world reindeer husbandry.
5. Reindeer Portal. The development of this website, also known as the Reindeer Portal is a major goal of ICR and is ongoing, as is the development of a reindeer database, a database that includes information about research projects ongoing that relate to reindeer husbandry.
