Diving in Eyjafjörður, Iceland

A seminar within the Pro-Active Diving project will take place in Akureyri, Iceland, the afternoon of Wednesday 22 February from 1:00 pm at the University of Akureyri.

The project, funded by NORA, aims to develop a niche eco-tourism market in the NORA Region (Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Faroe Islands) in which divers can help scientists monitor the marine environment each time they go diving.

The seminar in Akureyri is intended to serve as a basis for a regional diving database template and marketing strategies to establish a new partnership between tourism agencies, business support, development mechanisms, research institutes and diving centers.

The event will focus on the practical experience of data collection while diving and how it helps the scientific comunity, as well as the growth potential for activities in this sector. Stakeholders interested in the topic - divers, representatives of business, tourism and scientific community - will take part in the event.

The invitation and the agenda of the seminar have been uploaded to the project's webpage on SeaIceland.is.
