The Nordic Council member states

Today, 8th of April 2014 the Nordic Council Theme Sessions take place in Akureyri, Northern Iceland. Meetings are closed for public.

The open session starts at 13.00 and will include the discussion on the political situation in Ukraine/Russia.

At 14.00 the theme debate on sustainable exploitation of nature´s resources starts. The speakers will present the report from the presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers on the theme of sustainable exploitation of nature´s resources in the Arctic and the proposal on criteria for sustainable Nordic mining.

Nordic Council welfare policy as well as the member´s proposal on the Nordic Region as a bridge – builder between developed and developing nations in the global climate negotiations will be discussed by the participated and partner organizations.

The Nordic Council was formed in 1952. The Council has 87 elected members from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland.
